TEAM
KILLEEN consists of the husband and wife team of Scott and BJ Killeen.
Started in 2004, TEAM KILLEEN encompasses all photography, editorial,
and broadcast work created by both Scott and BJ Killeen, either
separately or together.
BJ Killeen
BJ Killeen, one of only
a handful of female automotive journalists in the country, is well
known in the industry. The former Road Test Editor of Motor Trend
magazine, BJ now freelances for numerous automotive titles, as well as
writing for automotive websites such as cars.about.com,
Pickuptruck.com, and Los Angeles magazine. She currently is the Road
Test Editor and co-host of Drivers Talk Radio, a nationally syndicated
radio show that is heard in over a dozen markets across the country.
After
receiving her degree in English from UCLA, BJ joined the staff of
Motorcyclist magazine, where she cultivated a fondness for motorcycles
and dirt bikes. She then moved on to Motor Trend magazine, where she
worked her way up to become the road test editor, and was responsible
for writing many monthly columns, road tests and comparison tests, as
well as voting in the prestigious Car, Truck, and Import Car of the
Year competitions. BJ also is the stand-in co-host of the nationally
syndicated radio program “America on the Road,” with a listening
audience of 3.5 million, as well as a guest host on the “The Car Show”
automotive radio program. BJ also has appeared on television as an
authority in her field, most recently on “Home Matters” on the
Discovery Channel, as well as on a variety of morning news shows across
the country.
BJ has toured the country as a training specialist
for a variety of manufacturers to help introduce new products to sales
consultants. BJ spent four years as the product knowledge expert for
Lincoln-Mercury in-dealership training programs. In addition, BJ has
worked as on-air talent for many product training videos and
competitive comparisons. She has done the principal product training on
all current Lincoln Mercury products, as well as many Ford vehicles.
Other training clients include Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Acura,
Mazda, and Toyota.
As a freelance writer, BJ has completed
numerous writing assignments for firms such as dkn Marketing, PBM
Marketing, Jackson-Dawson Communications, Sandy Corporation, Affluent
Living Publications, Paine and Associates, and Young and Rubicam. She
is a multiple winner of the prestigious IAMC awards, including the gold
medal for Best of Radio for 2004, and is a judge for numerous
automotive competitions, including Concept Vehicle of the Year and
International Car of the Year. BJ also has done freelance writing for
many of the major automotive manufacturing companies.
A big
racing fan, her love of automobiles started early, having been exposed
to the field through her father, who owned an assortment of collector
classics, such as a ’61 Austin-Healey 3000, a ’64 1/2 Mustang, and
other vehicles. BJ, a native Southern Californian, is married to
automotive photographer Scott Killeen, lives in Sherman Oaks,
California, and is a two-year past president of the Motor Press Guild,
the organization that represents almost 750 automotive journalists and
industry representatives across the country.

Scott Killeen is the mastermind behind BUILD BOOK, a series of
publications that follow the build of a custom vehicle from concept to
reality. Before starting this venture with wife and automotive
journalist BJ Killeen, Scott was the Director of Photography for
Buckaroo Communications, photographing and overseeing the photographic
content for over 10 enthusiast magazines, such as Hot Compact and
Imports, American Rodder, Street Rod Builder, and many more.
Scott Killeen worked as a photographer for Petersen Publishing Company
for 11 years. During that time he has photographed hundreds of covers
for Motor Trend, Hot Rod Magazine, Car Craft, Chevy-Hi Performance and
others. He also has done freelance photography for most of the major
automotive manufacturers, including all the divisions at General
Motors, Chrysler, Volvo, Kia, Hyundai, Mercedes Benz and others.
As TEAM KILLEEN, Scott and BJ collaborate on automotive and lifestyle
articles, including special inserts for Los Angeles Magazine, Car and
Driver, and other well-known publications.
